Custom cabinetry · Trade focused
Cabinetry for designed spaces, built to specification.
CME Cabinetry is a premier custom cabinetry fabrication shop serving the DC metro area. We work primarily with architects, designers, and contractors to produce custom kitchens, built-ins, vanities, and fitted storage from coordinated drawings, with direct residential commissions also considered.

Rooms we've built
Selected fabrication across kitchens, fitted storage, vanities, wardrobes, and architectural built-ins.
Project Coordination
From project documents to installation
Scope & coordination
We review drawings, specifications, site conditions, and project responsibilities with the architect, designer, contractor, or direct client.
Shop drawings & samples
Cabinet details, materials, hardware, and finish samples are coordinated for review before fabrication.
Fabrication
Casework, doors, drawers, panels, and related components are fabricated and finished in the shop to the approved project requirements.
Delivery & installation
Delivery, site access, installation, and final adjustments are coordinated with the project team or direct client as the scope requires.
Materials & Finishes
Primary finish systems: conversion varnish & acrylic
Primary system
Conversion varnish
Used as a principal shop-applied finish for painted, clear, toned, and stained cabinet work, with samples coordinated to the project specification.
Primary system
Acrylic finish
Used as a principal finish system for clean solid-color, contemporary, and specialty finish requirements, with color and sheen coordinated by sample.
Paint-grade material is flexible
The woods shown below are common examples, not a fixed menu. For painted cabinetry, we can use the paint-grade woods the client, designer, or project specification calls for, with the final material and finish sample coordinated to the intended use.
White oak
Available in selected cuts and grain patterns with conversion varnish, acrylic, or other specified finishes.
Black walnut
A naturally varied hardwood commonly finished with clear or toned conversion varnish.
Maple
A close-grained wood well suited to pigmented conversion varnish and acrylic finishes.
Cherry
A warm hardwood compatible with conversion varnish, acrylic, clear, toned, stained, and other specified finish systems.
Conversion varnish and acrylic finishes are the principal finish systems in the shop. The specification remains flexible: we can accommodate nearly any client- or designer-requested color, stain, sheen, glaze, paint system, specialty finish, or paint-grade wood selection, with samples coordinated to the project requirements and intended use.
The Details

High-quality drawers joined with dovetails are a standard feature.
Conversion varnish & acrylic finishes
These are the primary finish systems, with other requested finishes sampled and coordinated as the project requires.
